Introduction to butyl rubber production methods
Slurry method: The slurry method is prepared by cation polymerization of isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene at a low temperature (about -100 °C) using methyl chloride as a diluent and H2O-AlCl3 as an initiator system.
Solution method: The traditional slurry synthesis butyl rubber production technology is mature, but due to the low polymerization temperature, the refrigeration equipment is huge, the continuous operation cycle of the polymerization reactor is short, and the energy consumption is high (1kg glue energy consumption is about 35-55MJ). In order to increase the reaction temperature, a large amount of research has been conducted on the synthesis of butyl rubber by a solution method.
